Hope in the pandemic

"Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

On a personal note, we are in a lovely wee bedsit near Lisburn. This is because we are awaiting our new home being built up in the leafy suburbs of East Belfast.

Construction, like many businesses, has come to a standstill during this awful pandemic. Therefore it is highly unlikey that we'll move in now for June as originally planned, but we are still hopeful for completion in the Autumn.

Like many, we are trying to thoal it out while things are delayed, and keep a positive perspective for our future anticipated new home.

'Hope' is having a posture of confident expectation. Someone has refered to it as cheerful expectation.

It's also great if we can keep good humoured during these dark days. I love it when people WhatsApp me funny perspectives and silly Norn Irish banter.

So in these unprecedented days, we are keeping the chin up, joyfully anticipating our new home being finished.

I've even relied on my Blue Peter skills to design a wee tub full of notelets, called my post coronavirus bucket list. Its full of notelets of people I want to see, places I want to go and projects I'd like to do post Covid19.

Hope is a powerful force and probably the most important factor when it comes to overcoming life’s biggest challenges. Without it, everything is lost.

"Hope itself is like a star — not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity."
- CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON

Don't lose hope and, in the midst of our "night of adversity" try to keep that sense of cheerful expectation. What is it that my dear Mum used to say: "good things come to those who wait."
