Reflectors
1 John 4:17 says
...as he is (love), so are we in the world
Most bikes have them - reflectors. Remember the red ones at the back. They reflect the light of car lights coming from behind hence the name reflectors.
Just like a full moon is reflecting the light of the sun, so Christians are to reflect the love of Christ. The moon has no light of itself, it simply reflects the light of the sun.
2 Corinthians 3:18
As all of us reflect the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, we are becoming more like him with ever-increasing glory by the Lord's Spirit.
As Jesus reflected the Fathers love, John's epistle encourages us to reflect Jesus' love "as he is, so are we in the world"
Agape love is defined as "sacrificial giving" - connect with someone this weekend and give them something, as an outward expression of that exhortation. Make this world a better place. Become more like him, by reflecting His glory.
Go on. Your action can make a real difference.
I finish with a thought from Teresa of Avila
"Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours."
