December 2nd - Behold, The Light of the World

Passages:

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2)

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them (Isaiah 42:16)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.(John 8:12)

I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness (John 12:46)

in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God …For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor 4:4,6)

but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Tim 2:10)

Ponder:

Spiritual blindness can be overcome! Hallelujah! God has promised to turn darkness into light. The enemy of our souls blinds people and keeps them in a state of unbelief. Life is transformed when the light of God’s presence illuminates our heart and mind with the good news (the gospel) of Jesus and His love. To be spiritually blind is not to see Jesus, and to not see Jesus is to not see God.

Prayer:

Lord, in these dark days, please shine your light, so that many more people will believe in you and not remain in darkness. Thank you that vaccines have been found to counteract the contagion we are all living with. Thank you for these scientific breakthroughs that will prolong life for so many throughout the world. Most of all we pray that many more will believe in Jesus to secure eternal life. Open the eyes of our heart Lord we pray. In Jesus name. Amen.
