Open the eyes of my heart Lord

Most people in the world can see the natural world, yet many cannot see in the unseen realm of the Spirit.

Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and hearing after a bout of illness at the age of nineteen months. After an education at both specialist and mainstream schools, she attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) from 1924 until 1968, during which time she toured the United States and traveled to 39 countries around the globe advocating for those with vision loss.

A few of her famous quotes are about seeing, yet she was blind.

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart"

"The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.'

I was reminded of this today as I attended a morning retreat. Elisha prayed for his servant that he would have "his eyes opened to see" the support he had of angelic armies protecting and fighting for him in the spiritual realm (2 Kings 6:15-17).

The privilege and honour we have as Christians  is that "the eyes of our spirit have been enlightened" to see  and recognise Jesus as our risen Lord (Eph 4:18/Luke 24:31).

My prayer every day is for friends and family, that they too would "see the things that are unseen" (2 Cor 4:18). Maybe you're on my prayer list:)

Spiritual blindness is the worst type of blindness (2 Cor 4:4)!

"Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see you
I want to see you

Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see you
I want to see you

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin' in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin' in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

To see You high and lifted up
Shining in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

To see You high and lifted up
Shining in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

Holy, holy, holy
We cry holy, holy, holy
You are holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
You are holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy (open the eyes of my heart)
Holy, holy, holy (yeah! open the eyes of my heart)
Holy, holy, holy (I want to see you)
I want to see you (I want to see you Lord)

You are Holy, holy, holy
(Open the eyes of my heart) Holy, holy, holy
(You are) Holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
I want to see you

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
I want to see you
